Every year our ward goes on a camp out. This year we went to Yankee Meadow up Parowan Canyon. Van was able to take Friday off so we went up on Thurs. night and stayed until Saturday afternoon. Last summer we found and were able to get a tent trailer (the kids have named it "Our Tent In A Can"). I enjoy camping, but having a trailer is so much nicer then a tent. I like sleeping on a bed better than the ground. When we left St George on Thurs it was 106 degrees. When we got to the canyon it was around 85 degrees. BIG difference! We had fun just enjoying the weather. On Friday we went with the other members of our ward who were already there on a hike. We followed a beautiful stream & found some great places to take some pictures (the new photo at the top was taken there). Are 2 "adopted" boys joined us on Fri. and slept in the tent, which they ended up dumping on one of them the next morning, because he wouldn't get up. (More to come on those 2 later). Friday afternoon our Bishop took the canoes up to the lake and the kids took it out on their own for an hour. I thought they were having a great time, but Van who was fishing up by where they were said they did a lot of yelling, blaming & more. So he brought them in & took the 2 older ones out for a lesson on rowing a canoe. They had a great time. Saturday a lot more from the ward joined us for a picnic at the lake, with the canoes & a kayak. A few of the kids decided to jump on in (it was cloudy & rainy). Two of which were mine & the 2 "adopted" ones. The water had to be freezing! It was a great time & we were sad to leave. We wish we had gotten out more this summer, but time & schedules just kept filling up. Now with school days away we are pretty much done camping for the year. We can't wait til next year though.

Sounds like we missed out on some fun! We were sad to miss the campout. That's two years in a row now. Hopefully our schedule allows us to make it next year!
