That was the theme of our Stake Relief Society Activity last Sat.
Cleaning & de-cluttering experts Don Aslett and Sandra Phillips were the guest speakers. Now I had never heard either one of them ( like some of you) before that night. But after having watched all those de-cluttering, organizing and cleaning shows on HGTV I believe they are on to something. Now my house is not even close to being as bad as some of the guests on those shows, but I could definitely use some organizing and cleaning ideas. So I went. I am so glad I did. They had some awesome ideas to clean up your home & your life. It's true the cleaner your home is the better you feel. That includes cleaning & de-cluttering. We learned tips on cleaning windows (use dish soap and water) and how to clean a bathroom in 3 & 1/2 mins (it was on video to prove it).
I have so been inspired. I have been starting this process all summer (when I say starting I mean over & over again). So I now have more gumption to get started for real, because they made it look so EASY. I have posted some of the books that I got, but if interested you can Google either name & get many more websites and info.
Here's a few tips that Don shared with us:
1.Buy a good door mat
2.Get good tools
3.Buy a caddie for all your cleaning supplies.
(If you are already doing these you are a step a head of me).
One of the books I received, "A Clean Break" by Sandra Phillips with Don Aslett, is on how to get the whole family involved. I started this one already and I am excited to share it with my family. The kids do chores now, but I want to show them how to also keep their rooms uncluttered along with clean.
"A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to keep, and a time to cast away."
Ecclesiastes 3:5-6
So off I go to "Make my house work for me" (Sandra Phillips). I sure hope it works hard so I don't have to. Just kidding! I am really excited about it so here it goes. Wish me luck!

I was so excited to see your post. I wanted to go to that so bad--and then my mom showed up that weekend and I had to help my sister move. I was so sad to miss that. I am going to google the info! Thanks!!!
I may have to jump on this band wagon. I NEED it. Even after a move :) Everytime I think I am there I realize I have kids and it is an ongoing process.
PS Thanks for the good memory. We loved it too.
When you get done with the book, can I take a gander at it.... I missed the activity too, I am always looking for ways to make things easier.
